Using wirework techniques make a long necklace with earrings, and a short necklace plus earrings. Also create a bracelet using a different wirework technique. Techniques covered will include picking up stitches for neck and button bands, short row shaping, grafting and mattress stitch. You will be required to knit and bring with you some small stocking stitch samples which will enable you to get the most out of your day. Instructions for these will be sent nearer the time. This course is suitable for intermediate and experienced knitters. New knitters must have knowledge of the basic techniques.

SHADOW WORK EMBROIDERY

Learn the white work embroidery technique of shadow work, which was traditionally used on fine cotton garments, baby wear and fine household linens. You will stitch a classic bow with a padded satin stitch centre on swiss batiste fabric, which you can later use to decorate a greeting card, lavender sachet or incorporate into a special item for baby. Kit included in cost of course.

KNITTING WITH COLOUR – FAIRISLE AND INTARSIA

This workshop will show you the different techniques of knitting with colour which are’ fairisle and intarsia’. Whilst working on a simple fairisle panel you will learn the two-handed method of carrying yarns which will help you to achieve an even tension and neat flat fabric. You will then learn how to manage your colours and avoid holes whilst working on a simple intarsia panel. The two panels can them be sewn together to make a cute drawstring bag.
